This midcentury charmer was substantially renovated in 2016. It had so much going for it! Our sellers had done a new roof, replaced most of the windows, installed beautiful hickory floors, updated kitchen and bath, and even added an addition. We started with an extremely well-maintained and updated home. But like many of us, these owners created the interior that best suited them. In order to sell for top dollar, we had to make some changes.
Our clients used this room as their den, but when we saw it—we saw an amazing bedroom-to-be with it’s own entry/exit and access to the porch. And a way to add value and make the home more attractive to folks looking to rent it out. We framed in the closet, installed stunning french doors and relocated the mini-split and voila! The MOST fabulous third bedroom or office.
In this case, when the homeowners renovated their bathroom, they decided to surrender the spot for the sink and instead, put their large, side-by-side washer dryer set in the bathroom. Their thought was that the kitchen sink was so close by that they would wash hands there. Our advice was that most buyers would expect a sink in the bathroom and would enjoy a laundry center in the kitchen area. We relocated that fancy crystal fixture and repurposed the mirror and it all came out great!
